The Sky Now - An Astrology Blog (July 9)

The Cancer New Moon is always a powerful witchy Water Moon as the Moon is the planetary ruler of the sign of Cancer.  Tonight at 21:16 EDT the Moon wanes to dark and a new lunar cycle begins.  New Moons are a time to plant seeds.  First of course we must form intent.  Then it is a matter of summoning, directing and executing.  Pluto and Neptune are the mighty giants of transit astrology, aspecting planets and influencing areas of our natal chart for long periods of time.  Pluto forms no real aspect to this New Moon, but currently retrograde Neptune does.  The trine formed between the Neptune and the Moon makes this a very spiritual Moon.  It connects us with ancestors and with our own ancient experience.  As the Cancer Moon grows in its waxing phase so will our spiritual and self awareness. Compassion is a fundamental element of the Cancer Moon. Keys to freeing our self from self-doubt, shame, self-loathing and other limiting negativity will be revealed, if we do our part.  We will want more from our relationships now, we will desire deeper connection and intimacy. 
Conditions are ripe for crafting real and positive change in your sexual romantic life.  Family and friend relations can also benefit from the energies of this New Moon.  This is a time to focus energies on your home, to make it the safe, nurturing, comforting sanctuary it needs to be.  In the true spirit of Cancer Season this is also a time to direct some energy and/or resources toward in some way helping those unfortunates in your community who do not have a home.
