The world has been on pause for a while, today the Planet of Love goes retrograde. Venus retrograde in Gemini will have us stepping back and looking in. We will feel drawn to love, but love as a concept. We will find our self considering what love means to us, what we need from it, what our values are toward it and whether what we have now measures up.
Venus is an inner planet, which means it moves pretty quickly, helping to create the short term zodiac weather rather than defining a year of our life or an era in our journey. However as Venus retrogrades usually last about six weeks inner planet Venus now becomes a more major player in the zodiac sky-scape.
Venus retrogrades are poor times to bring new love into your bed and your life and poor energy periods for moving in together or marriage. Likely the Coronavirus pandemic will render all of that moot in most cases now. In fact, if Venus had to go retrograde (and it did), this was probably the best time for it.
Venus retrograde should be a time of reflection, with particular focus on our sexual romantic relationships, but yes our friendships too. Relationships should sustain us, nourish us, inspire us, help us grow, help us to become better and live better lives in the world. Relationships should not undermine our well-being, our self-confidence or self-esteem. Relationships should not leave us emotionally impoverished and they should never have us feeling inadequate, or dumb, or questioning our sanity.
Beyond Love, Attraction and Values Venus is also the planet of Artistic Creativity and Venus retrograde offers unique creative opportunities due to the deep nature of our pondering. This is a fine time to write a love story, perhaps the story of you and love.
If we have followed Venus's direction by the time Venus moves into Cancer (August 8) we should be much better equipped to create the love we need and deserve. Hopefully by that time we will be able to start touching each other again, consensually of course.
